Two years to go!

Almost there!

Two years from today the countdown will hit zero and I’ll be on my way… June 15th, 2022 is the provisional date we plan to make our move to Disney!

Wow!

What makes that seem more incredible is that it was June 2018, two years ago, that I started this blog! So this site is halfway through its mission, assuming all goes as anticipated… But I’ve got a dream, I’ve got a plan, so why should I worry?

Because this is 2020 and everything is topsy turvy! As we’re all learning, you can be prepared, but the unexpected could always be just around the riverbend waiting to spoil the best laid plans.

Covid and the associated lockdowns are making it difficult to get out there and do some of the things we wanted to do to start preparing. For example, our house is by no means a fixer upper, but there are some things we need to do for the eventual sale — and we don’t exactly want to welcome other people in at the moment.

And in a perfect world, circumstances in our family wouldn’t change, but unfortunately it appears that’s probably something that I want that’s too good to be true. (More on that next month!)

So while many parts of the journey towards making our dream a reality still seem bright and shiny (like how close we are to feeling like the future has arrived on this two-years-to-go mark), other elements are more frustrating right now. Am I feeling a little anxious? I won’t say! I’m in love with the idea that this is really happening. I’m wishing it weren’t so much trouble though!

But you can’t just give up because things don’t go how you expect or aren’t as easy as you hoped. Want some very good advice? When things seem darkest and you ask yourself “I wonder if this is worth the effort”, stop where you are, look at your reflection in the mirror, and practice some mind over matter — you have to dig a little deeper inside yourself to find something there that motivates you to keep moving forward. Whatever is preventing you from being able to go the distance? Just let it go, stop trying to force things to fit your plan, and follow wherever the trail may lead.

While it’s true that you’re always going to have to adapt to new obstacles in your personal life and even the world at large, some things never change. And one of those things for me is I can’t wait to start the beginning of the rest of my life in my own home near Disney World with the people I love. And I’ll do whatever it takes to get there with a smile and a song… or thirty-three!
